YBAC Swim Parents
The role of a swim parent requires long hours and dedication to the sport beyond practices and competition. Swimmers train for goals ranging from fitness to collegiate or Olympic achievements. Here are some topics to support your swimmer throughout their journey.
USA Swimming
YBAC Age-Group swimmers are progressed through training using the American Development Model [ADM]. The ADM is a tool coaches use to create a long-term athlete plan, design the practice group structure, and evaluate the overall development and progress of our swimmers.
USA Swimming is the national governing body for the sport of swimming. Motivational Time Standards are created for swim events based off age-group categories. Competitions range from USAS team hosted meets to National Championships and Olympic Trials.
YMCA Swimming
YBAC Swimmers are coached while keeping the Y's guiding principles in mind: Faith, Inclusiveness, Family, Character, Leadership, Relationships, and Community.
YBAC Coaching Staff tries to instill these values in the swim team program. Swimming provides self-discipline. Swimming provides a sense of quality. The young athlete learns that success comes from doing things properly. Swimming is a direct reward system. The harder you work, the greater your reward. Swimming teaches the relationship between team and individual. Neither team nor individual can exist and prosper in swimming without the other. It teaches people to work with others.
YBAC coaches offer opportunities for both swimmer and parent to learn and progress through the sport of swimming by offering team parent liaisons & access to competitive information and coaches via our website.
