Time Standards
USA Swimming Time Standards
USA Swimming is the national governing body for the sport of swimming in the US. The organization hosts more than 400,000 members that "promotes the culture of swimming by creating opportunities for swimmers and coaches of all backgrounds to participate and advance in the sport through clubs, events, and education."
The group's members include swimmers of every age and ability on a national level. Motivational time standards were created to encourage swimmers to improve training and performance from age group meets and championships through Olympic trials.
YMCA Swimming Time Standards
YMCA Swimming & Diving is a competition circuit open to all YMCA swim team members. The organization hosts various meets at different levels to offer YMCA swimmers of all abilities to participate.
For NC, YMCA swim teams participate in a short course GYSSA League Championship that is open to all YMCA swimmers that have competed in at least one closed-YMCA meet. Swimmers do not need a qualifying time for the GYSSA League Championship. All qualifying YMCA swimmers may participate in the US Regional YMCA Championship (USRY) hosted at the end of short course and long course. At the end of both short course and long course, the YMCA hosts a YMCA Nationals competition for all nationally qualified swimmers.
